Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-15
Thanks for using Augmap. We build tools to help you explore and plan trips with confidence. These Terms of Service keep the relationship between you and us clear.
When we say “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us,” we mean Augmap, Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in Maine. When we say “Services,” we mean our websites (augmap.ai and its subdomains), the Augmap Trip Planner (including its live map and its integrations with AI assistants), and our land-trust mapping application for partner organizations. When we say “you,” we mean anyone using the Services, with or without an account.
By using our Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Creating an account requires explicitly accepting them. If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and give you reasonable advance notice — by email to account holders or a notice in the product — before the change takes effect, except for changes required for legal or security reasons, which may take effect immediately. Changes apply going forward, not retroactively. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance — if you don’t agree, stop using the Services, and you may delete your account at any time. These Terms contain a limitation of our liability.
Accounts
- You can use much of the Services without an account. Some features — saving trips, claiming an anonymous trip, contributing to community maps — require one.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it, including keeping secure the email address or sign-in provider you use to access it.
- The Services are not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use the Services.
- Accounts registered by bots or other automated methods are not permitted. However, you may use an AI assistant or agent — hosted or running on your own machine — to interact with the Services on your behalf through our published interfaces, such as our MCP server; you are responsible for the actions it takes in your sessions.
Anonymous trip sessions
You can plan a trip without an account. Anonymous trips work by link: anyone with a trip’s unique link can view and edit that trip. Treat the link like a key and share it only with people you trust. Anonymous trips are scheduled for automatic deletion about 30 days after their last activity unless claimed by an account. We are not responsible for access to an anonymous trip by someone you shared the link with, or for the loss of an unclaimed trip that expired.
Your content
- You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Services — trips, traveler briefs, place reviews, ratings, comments, contributions, and recommendations.
- Private trip content — your trips, traveler briefs, and trip history — is licensed to us only as needed to host, store, process, and display it in order to provide the trip-planning service to you and the people you share with. We do not use the content of your private trips or traveler briefs to build place summaries, rankings, or search indexes, and when you delete a trip, we delete it (see our Privacy Policy for backup timing). (De-identified usage signals, which may improve search and recommendations for everyone, are described in our Privacy Policy.)
- Trips are private by default: we do not publish them. They are visible to you, to people you share them with, to your AI assistant when you use one, and to us and our service providers only as needed to operate the Services (see our Privacy Policy).
- Community content — place reviews, ratings, comments, board recommendations, and
contributions in our land-trust application — is shared with the relevant community by
design, attributed as submitted. Because other people’s trips, boards, and maps come to
depend on it, the license you grant us for community content is built to last:
- You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, excerpt, adapt, and process community content, including combining it with other data to create aggregated or derived works — place summaries, rankings, and search indexes — and using it to develop and improve the models that power our search and recommendations.
- This license is sublicensable to the service providers who run the Services and as needed to deliver the Services through the channels people use them (for example, returning content to your AI assistant), and it transfers with these Terms if they are assigned. It survives the end of these Terms.
- We may share or license aggregated, de-identified works derived from community content — place summaries, rankings, and trend data — with partners. Your raw contributions and your name are never part of that.
- Your individual contributions are attributed as submitted; aggregated and derived works may be displayed without attribution.
- Content an organization provides under a separate written agreement with us — such as a land trust’s trail and property data — is governed by that agreement, not by this section.
- If you delete your account, community content remains available with your account identification removed, and derived data that no longer identifies you may be retained, so shared maps and reviews stay intact. If you want a contribution removed from display, email us and we’ll handle it.
- Content you submit must be accurate to your knowledge, must not infringe anyone’s intellectual property, and must comply with applicable law, and you represent that you have the rights needed to submit it and grant the licenses above. If you submit content that came from other people — for example, through a group-chat integration — you are responsible for having their permission. We don’t pre-screen content, but we reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Services infringes your copyright, send a notice meeting the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our designated agent at support@augmap.ai. We will remove or disable access to infringing material as appropriate and may terminate the accounts or sessions of repeat infringers.
Use restrictions
You agree not to:
- Submit false or misleading place or trail information
- Attempt to access other users’ private trips, accounts, or data
- Circumvent security features or any rate limits we apply
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-collect data from the Services (this does not restrict our supported AI-assistant integrations or open-licensed data — see “Our data and intellectual property”)
- Spam, harass, or abuse other users or the Services
- Use the Services for any unlawful purpose
Violation of these restrictions may result in suspension or termination of your account or sessions.
Our data and intellectual property
-
The Services — including their design, code, and branding — and the Augmap place database — including our curation, place summaries, rankings, embeddings, search indexes, and map tiles — are owned by or licensed to the Company and protected by intellectual property laws. Your use of the Services gives you no ownership rights in any of them.
-
You may not, except as we expressly permit in writing:
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or systematically extract place data, reviews, rankings, tiles, or any other data from the Services;
- use data systematically extracted from the Services to build or enrich a competing product or dataset; or
- use our place summaries, rankings, embeddings, or search indexes, or data bulk-extracted from the Services, to train machine-learning or AI models.
None of this restricts your own content, open-licensed data as described below, the ordinary operation of an AI assistant you use with the Services, or evaluating and writing about the Services.
-
Access through our APIs and AI-assistant integrations is provided for planning your own trips and using the Services as intended, and is subject to any rate limits we apply. Access that exceeds those limits or attempts to circumvent them may be throttled or cut off; where we reasonably can, we’ll notify account holders and give you a chance to fix it.
-
The Services incorporate data from third-party sources, including OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License) and the Overture Maps Foundation. Where content in the Services is covered by an open data license, that license governs your rights in that content, and nothing in these Terms restricts the rights it grants you. The restrictions above apply to our compilation, curation, and derived works — our place summaries, rankings, embeddings, and search indexes — and we may still limit automated access to protect the operation of the Services. Attribution and license details for the data sources we use are listed on our Attributions page.
Trip suggestions and place information
The heart of the Services is helping you find places and plan routes. Be aware of what that information is and isn’t:
- Place information is assembled from public data sources, partners, and community contributions, and suggestions are generated with software that includes AI and statistical methods. Place summaries and descriptions are automated syntheses of those sources and may contain errors. We work hard on accuracy, but we cannot guarantee that hours are current, that businesses are still operating, that trails or roads are open or passable, or that any place is suitable or safe for you. If you spot an error — especially about a place you own or operate — email support@augmap.ai and we’ll review it.
- Always verify before you go. Check hours, conditions, closures, and access — especially for outdoor recreation, where conditions change quickly and the consequences are real.
- Outdoor activities carry inherent risk. You are responsible for your own preparation, judgment, and safety. A place appearing in the Services is not a representation that it is safe, legal to access, or appropriate for your abilities.
- We are not affiliated with the businesses and places listed in the Services unless we say otherwise.
- If you use the Services through a third-party AI assistant, the place and trip data the assistant receives comes from our Services — and everything above about accuracy and verifying before you go applies to it. What the assistant says with that data is produced by the provider, under the provider’s terms.
Booking links
Some places may show a link to book through a third-party travel site. We may earn a commission on bookings made through these links. The booking is between you and the booking site (and the underlying property), under their terms. We are not a party to the transaction and are not responsible for the booking, the accommodation, pricing, or cancellation handling.
Beta status and changes to the Services
The Services are under active development. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any part of the Services, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. If we permanently discontinue the Trip Planner, we’ll make reasonable efforts to give account holders advance notice and a window to export their trips. The Services are currently free; if we introduce paid plans, we will say so clearly and you will never be charged without signing up for a paid plan.
Cancellation and termination
- You may delete your account at any time in the app — or by emailing us if anything gets in the way. Upon deletion, your content is removed as described in our Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the Services or other users, or use the Services fraudulently or unlawfully.
Disclaimer of warranties
Your use of the Services is at your sole risk. THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION IN THE SERVICES IS ACCURATE OR CURRENT.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, OR DATA, ARISING FROM: (i) YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES; (ii) ANY PLACE, TRAIL, ROUTE, OR ACTIVITY YOU VISIT OR UNDERTAKE BASED ON INFORMATION IN THE SERVICES; (iii) ANY BOOKING OR TRANSACTION WITH A THIRD PARTY REACHED THROUGH THE SERVICES; OR (iv) ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO THE SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). Nothing in this section limits our liability for our own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Before filing any claim, both parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days, starting when one of us notifies the other (for us: support@augmap.ai); applicable limitation periods are paused during this window. Any dispute not resolved informally shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Maine, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, including in the county where you live.
Miscellany
- If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
- Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Augmap regarding the Services — except that if you or your organization have a separate written agreement with us (for example, a partner or organizational agreement), that agreement governs to the extent it conflicts with these Terms.
- You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case they will bind and benefit the successor.
