Get started

Augmap gives your AI assistant the tools to build maps you can explore, adjust, and share.

An Augmap trip map for a two-day, 17-stop trip: day one runs from South Portland up the Maine coast past Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and flower farms to Camden, with the stops listed beside a route on the map

Step one

Connect Augmap to your AI assistant

  1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT

On the web at chatgpt.com, open Plugins and choose to add a custom MCP server.

  2. Add Augmap

Name it Augmap, paste our address as the connection URL, and set authentication to OAuth. Review the warning, then confirm.

  3. Sign in when you save

Planning works right away. When you ask to save the trip, ChatGPT sends you to Augmap to sign in with an emailed code and approve the connection; the same trip is then kept in your account.

Step two

Tell your AI assistant what to build

Start a new chat. Share how many hours – or even days – you have, who’s coming, what you love, and what you’d rather skip. Be as general or specific as you’d like, as if texting a friend who lives there. Head to your AI assistant to get started or copy one of these prompts to try it out.

Rainy day

“Map a rainy afternoon in Portland, Maine for three adults. We like bookstores, coffee, and small museums. Keep everything within a short walk.”

Bachelorette weekend

“Plan a 3-day foliage loop that leaves from Windham, Maine, goes up the coast, and heads inland straying from the beaten path. It’s a bachelorette weekend and we want to see something we wouldn’t find in the guidebooks. The bride loves craft beer, everything maple, and learning new things.”

New in town

“I just moved to Bangor with my family (partner and 2 elementary school kids). We love bowling, libraries, and Saturday mornings at coffee shops. Map things we’d be interested in so we can get a feel for our new town, including playgrounds and family-friendly restaurants worth trying.”

Step three

Click the link

Your AI assistant replies with a link to your live map. From there, you can:

See your options

Stops that fit your interests, places to eat along the way, and local gems off the beaten path, laid out day by day.

Change your mind

Swap a stop, shorten a day, or find something for a rainy afternoon. Ask for changes through your assistant or make them yourself in the map.

Save and share

Tap “Save this trip” to keep the map and we’ll send a code to your email. From there, share the link with whoever is coming, with the option to allow collaborators to edit the trip.

FAQ

Do I need an account to plan a trip?

No. Your trip lives at its link. If you’d like to save it and share it, tap “Save this trip” and we’ll email you a sign-in code.

Can I plan with someone else?

Yes. Share the map link with whoever is coming. Use the “Share trip” settings on the map to create a view-only link or give a collaborator editing access.

Can I use Augmap without an AI assistant?

Not yet. Planning directly on trip.augmap.ai is coming soon. Be sure to leave us your email so we can tell you as soon as it’s ready!

Where can I map?

For now, Maine. Leave us your email and we’ll let you know when we map somewhere new!
